David Gentile

founder & chief executive officer

Mr. Gentile is responsible for the management of GPB Capital Holdings, LLC (“GPB”), including the formulation of strategy and oversight of investment policy and leadership of the Investment Committee. Prior to founding GPB, Mr. Gentile spent 25 years at the Corporate Advisory and Accounting practice of Gentile Pismeny & Brengel, LLP (“GP&B”) in New York. During this time, he advised clients on business expansion and growth strategies, cash flow management, mergers and acquisitions, recapitalization, spin-offs and divestiture, corporate turn-around and restructuring. He developed and maintained executive level relationships with many of the firm’s 3,000+ entrepreneurial, corporate executive and high-net-worth clients.

During his career at GP&B, Mr. Gentile provided financial and strategic advisory services to various companies with a combined enterprise value over $1B in the private and public markets. He earned his Bachelor of Business Studies in Finance and Accounting from Queens College.

Macrina Kgil

Ms. Kgil brings more than 16 years of financial services management and capital markets knowledge to her role of Managing Partner & Chief Financial Officer at GPB.

Prior to joining GPB, she was the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at the New York branch of OneMain Holdings, Inc., an Indiana-based consumer finance company. Before OneMain, Ms. Kgil held the role of Vice President at Fortress Investment Group, a global investment firm that currently has $70.2B of assets under management. While at Fortress, she was responsible for heading up financial due diligence for acquisitions, stabilizing base finance functions of newly acquired portfolio companies and leading effort to take companies public or raise public debt.

Ms. Kgil is a Certified Public Accountant and received a Bachelor of Science in Mineral and Petroleum Engineering from Seoul National University in Seoul, South Korea.

Craig Goos

managing partner & COO

Mr. Goos brings over 20 years of wealth management / financial services experience to his role as Chief Operating Officer at GPB.

Prior to joining GPB, Mr. Goos spent five years as the Founder, President & Managing Director of North Capital which includes: North Capital Investment Technology, North Capital Inc., a Registered Investment Advisor and North Capital Private Securities Corp., a registered Broker-Dealer. At North Capital, he was involved in the management and all functional aspects including sales, operations, regulatory and administrative activities.

Previous to North Capital, Mr. Goos spent two years at UBS Wealth Management as the Managing Director of Alternative Investments where his group was responsible for approximately $13B in assets. As Managing Director, he oversaw day-to-day activities, including the development of the group’s overall strategy, the implementation of business, financial and operational controls, portfolio oversight of proprietary funds, marketing, client services, portfolio administration and the open architecture platform of third party products utilized by financial advisors in U.S. wealth management. Prior to UBS, Mr. Goos had various roles within sales, product management and product development at Bear Stearns, Oppenheimer and Morgan Stanley Dean Witter.

Mr. Goos received a Bachelor of Arts in General Studies from the University of Northern Iowa and served as First Lieutenant in the Army National Guard.

Roger Anscher

Senior Consultant

Mr. Anscher has more than 20 years of industry experience, with past roles in operations, legal, accounting and compliance. Prior to consulting for GPB, Mr. Anscher spent five years as the Chief Operating Officer, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer for Equinox Partners, LLC, a financial firm with approximately $1.7B of peak assets under management. There he oversaw operations, legal, compliance, accounting, technology and human resources.

Before Equinox Partners, Mr. Anscher spent a decade at Ramius, LLC, an international multi-strategy business with $12B in assets under management and offices in New York, Munich, London and Tokyo. During that time, he served as Chief Operating Officer and also served as General Counsel for Ramius Alternative Solutions, LLC, Ramius’ multi-manager business.

Prior to Ramius, Mr. Anscher spent four years as an Associate in the Corporate Department of Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP. He first began his career in the audit department of KPMG while earning his CPA.

Mr. Anscher received his undergraduate degree in Accounting from Tulane University’s AB Freeman School of Business and his Juris Doctor from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.

Abhaya Shrestha

managing director

Mr. Shrestha brings more than 14 years of private equity experience to his role as Managing Director and Investment Committee Member at GPB. He has executed acquisitions of privately held companies and assisted in the long-term management and growth of portfolio companies across a variety of industries.

Prior to joining GPB, Mr. Shrestha was a Principal at Corinthian Capital Group, a New York-based middle-market private equity investment firm where he invested in industrial, manufacturing and business services companies with total revenues between $50M and $250M. Prior to Corinthian, Mr. Shrestha worked at Behrman Capital, a private equity investment firm with $2B in capital under management. At Behrman,
Mr. Shrestha invested in manufacturing, healthcare and business services companies.

Mr. Shrestha began his career in the investment banking division of Morgan Stanley. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Computer Science from Amherst College.

Jeff Schultz

managing director, senior counsel & CCO

Mr. Schultz brings more than 10 years of industry experience to his role as Managing Director, Senior Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer. He is responsible for GPB’s general legal matters, including fund formation and corporate governance, as well as oversight of GPB’s compliance program.

Prior to joining GPB, Mr. Schultz served as Chief Legal Officer and Chief Compliance Officer of Phoenix Investment Adviser LLC, where he oversaw all legal and compliance matters for the hedge fund manager with over $1B in assets under management. Before that, he served as Legal Counsel for BNP Paribas Investment Partners where he provided legal and regulatory advice to the bank’s North American asset management business with approximately $68B in assets under management.

Mr. Schultz also served as an associate in the asset management practices of Bingham McCutchen LLP and Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP. He received his Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature from the University of Michigan and his Juris Doctor from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.

Jeff Lash

managing partner – automotive retail

Mr. Lash is responsible for formulating GPB’s Automotive Retail strategy, which includes developing the Firm’s investment strategy, risk management framework and portfolio strategy. He brings to GPB more than 23 years of automotive retail expertise with a focus on operations and underperforming dealership turnaround. At GPB, Mr. Lash oversees the various operating partners to enhance operational efficiencies at the dealership level while elevating its senior leadership team.

Prior to joining GPB, Mr. Lash’s accomplishments included running a portfolio of dealerships, restructuring large automotive retail portfolios and working as a consultant for a software company whose product focused on improving operations and providing strategic planning steps crucial to an automotive dealership. He received his degree in Business from Westfield State College and graduated from Dealer Principal Academy.

Scott Naugle

Mr. Naugle is responsible for overseeing GPB’s automotive dealership investments including financial reporting, risk management, procurement, acquisition due diligence, internal audit and profit optimization. With more than 27 years of accounting and corporate finance experience, Mr. Naugle is a results-oriented leader with experience in the retail, distribution, financial services and leasing industries.

Prior to joining GPB, he served as Director of Corporate Finance and Accounting at DCH Automotive Group where he successfully led the due diligence team in the acquisition of two large dealerships with revenues exceeding $200M annually. Previously he served as Financial Officer and Treasurer at Holman Automotive Group, Inc. and was a Senior Auditor at Deloitte & Touche. Mr. Naugle earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance from Rutgers University – Camden.

Mike Frost

managing partner – managed IT services

Mr. Frost is responsible for formulating the GPB Managed IT strategy, sourcing, structuring, closing and monitoring potential acquisitions. With more than 25 years of leadership experience, Mr. Frost brings a proven ability to commercialize technology and drive revenue.

Prior to joining GPB, he served as Senior Director of Retail & Commercial Systems for Siemens Industry, where he developed the strategy for revenue from small commercial buildings for the $1.2B Siemens U.S. Sector of Building Technologies.

Additional career highlights include CEO and President of ClearCube Technology, and Founder and President of TechWorks (acquired by MELCO Japan). Mr. Frost was named a High Technology Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young for his role with TechWorks. He attended the University of Texas at Austin for Accounting.

 

Evan Myrianthopoulos

managing partner – debt strategies

Mr. Myrianthopoulos is responsible for sourcing, structuring, closing and monitoring potential acquisitions and divestitures for GPB Debt Strategies. Bringing more than 18 years of experience to GPB, he is known for his strength in identifying, financing, developing, managing and publicly exiting emerging biotechnology investments. Mr. Myrianthopoulos has been the Managing Director of the Life Sciences Investment Banking practice at Aegis Capital Corp.

Prior to joining Aegis, Mr. Myrianthopoulos served as CFO and Board Member of Soligenix, Inc., a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company, where he led seventeen financings totaling over $150M in proceeds, four company acquisitions, and 13 licensing deals. He has a Bachelors of Arts in Economics and Psychology from Emory University.

Richard Serio

managing partner – waste management

Mr. Serio brings over 30 years of diverse business experience to his role as Managing Partner of Waste Management. He is responsible for GPB’s Waste Management strategy, including business development and subsequent acquisition and integration of the portfolio companies. GPB’s Waste Management division is focused on acquiring and operating companies in the non-hazardous solid waste management industry that provide collection, post-collection, waste processing, recycling and disposal related services.

Prior to joining GPB, Mr. Serio served as a Vice President at Covanta Energy, a New Jersey-based corporation that owns and operates more than 40 waste to energy facilities. Before Covanta, he held the role of Area President at Republic Services, where he managed all facets of Republic’s business in the New York and New Jersey area. Previously, Mr. Serio also served as Market Vice President at Interstate Waste and Progressive Waste Solutions, where he was responsible for operations and sales in the NY State and the Greater NYC Metro area.

Mr. Serio received his Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in Environmental Science from Hofstra University.

Carlos Valle

managing partner – special situations – Energy

Mr. Valle is responsible for the financial and operational due diligence process and documentation of Special Situations’ acquisitions. With more than 30 years of global financial services experience, Mr. Valle is known in the industry for his analytical, transactional and leadership excellence.

Prior to joining GPB, Mr. Valle was the Managing Director of the Caribbean Region for EFG Bank & Trust Ltd. There he managed the operations of EFG’s Bahamas Bank (a financial firm with $2B in assets under management) and focused on private wealth management, investment management, and fiduciary services. Mr. Valle has also held leadership roles at Merrill Lynch, AV Advisory, Arco Capital Corporation and was an adjunct professor of emerging markets finance at the University of Virginia.

Mr. Valle earned a Bachelor of Science from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Virginia.

Manuel Vianna

managing partner – special situations – Healthcare Services

Mr. Vianna brings 35 years of experience in investment management and corporate development to his role of Managing Partner — Special Situations, Healthcare Services. Mr. Vianna is responsible for formulating the Healthcare strategy, sourcing, structuring, closing and monitoring potential acquisitions.

Prior to joining GPB, Mr. Vianna was co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of a leading cell therapy company since its inception in 2011 until the sale of the business.

He developed his career for twenty years at Monitor Group (now Monitor Deloitte), a fast-growing multinational strategy consulting and investment firm where he worked initially as a management consultant, helping companies develop and execute their business strategy and growth plans to maximize value creation. During the second half of his career at Monitor, he managed the hedge fund affiliated with the firm, a fundamental research based, long / short equities fund. Additionally, as Managing Director of Monitor Capital he was active in the firm’s private equity business, including developing its private equity dealings in Brazil and China.

Mr. Vianna has a Masters of Business Administration from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a specialization in Production Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Fred Harmeyer

managing partner – real estate

Mr. Harmeyer brings more than 25 years of commercial real estate investment and finance experience with industry-leading firms. In his role, Mr. Harmeyer is responsible for determining GPB Real Estate’s overall direction, strategy and investment implementation.

Prior to joining GPB, Mr. Harmeyer served as Senior Managing Director for Cushman & Wakefield. As a leader of the U.S. Capital Markets group, his responsibilities included oversight of the commercial real estate investment sales and finance groups. Before Cushman & Wakefield, Mr. Harmeyer served as Partner and head of commercial real estate debt investments and research at High Rise Capital Management, a preeminent real estate securities investment manager with more than $1.5B in assets under management.

Prior to High Rise, Mr. Harmeyer held leadership roles at Merrill Lynch, where he was a group head in the commercial real estate finance division, and Morgan Stanley, where he was ranked one of the real estate industry’s top sell-side equity research analysts. Mr. Harmeyer received his bachelor’s degree from Yale University and his Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law.
